Is it not bad enough that you make me share with that babbling baby that you brought home? Now you are making me share my couch with that puppy that looks like an adult dog that came to visit who isn't "supposed" to be on the furniture. When will the insanity end?

As Laura pointed out in the last post I am currently in Kenya for work. The good news is that this trip has afforded me the opportunity to do some traveling around the country and to see three of the many national parks here. I traveled north of Nairobi to Lake Nakuru National Park famous for its flamingos and to Hell's Gate National Park known for its gorges last weekend. This weekend I trekked through Tsavo West National Park made infamous by the Man-Eaters of the Tsavo. I managed to see all of the big five including two separate sightings (one in each park) of leopards (pronounced lay-o-pard here like leotard) which is very rare. Had some amazing encounters with elephants, rhinos, giraffes, water buffaloes and even lions. I will do a separate post later with all of the pictures but here are a few of me in the parks.

At Lake Nakuru with all the flamingos and pelicans.

At the Tsavo West National Park Gate. The train tracks are directly across the highway behind me and the man eating lions were shot within two kilometers of the entrance sign.

At Hell's Gate with the main tower in the background and the canyon we hiked down right behind me (no I did not wear the same shirt the entire trip it was taken the same day as the earlier photo!)

Baby McGarry's room is officially painted and ready for dad to get back from Kenya to bring the furniture upstairs (and assemble the crib). Grandpa Torgersen must really love her, since he HATES to paint. The official color of the Benjamin Moore paint (we couldn't use another brand) is Mellow Yellow!

After a few months without a storm door, the new one was installed yesterday. Maz is back to his old spot - right at the front door making sure he doesn't miss a thing!

Here we are at 25 weeks (right before getting in the car to head to the Outer Banks, NC for the week). She is definitely moving alot at this point - especially in the middle of the night when I'm trying to sleep.

Baby's Got a Bed

We ordered a new crib and dresser for the baby today (Thank you Grandma and Grandpa Torgersen)!

We wound up with the crib in the color above and the dresser on the left. It has a piece that sits on top that you put the changing pad in! We'll get to see it in 8-10 weeks!

We also spent a few hours the other night registering at Babies R Us. There are TOO many options for everything. We finally made some decisions, but we were completely overwhelmed.

The master bathroom is showing signs of life again! Matt has been working hard on it over the weekends. This week we have someone in there full time getting it to come together. Here are a few quick before shots. No need to hire a supervisor in the McGarry household. Maz has been supervising from our bed - with the fan blowing on him. What a dog's life!

So here's a new, hopefully daily, feature. Every morning I wake up and invariably have some random song stuck in my head. Sometimes it's a song I haven't heard in months which really makes me wonder where it came from. Today's song was 3oh!3's called "Don't Trust Me" especially the line "Shush girl shut your lips,Do the Hellen Keller and talk with your hips." (warning: explicit lyrics if you look it up!)

13 Week Ultrasound

There really is a moving baby in there! The baby didn't seem to want to move to the position it needed to be for the ultrasound technician though. This resulted in over an hour of poking my belly hoping that the baby would roll over. Matt kept telling the baby to roll over, but if he can't get Maz to roll over in the 5 years we have had him - the baby wasn't going to do it at 13 weeks!
